Frequently asked questions
Answers to everything about Rune Lens, the team builders, the SWLens Client, subscriptions, cloud sync, and more.
Yes, SWLens is completely safe. The Rune Lens overlay only reads pixels from your screen using OCR — it never interacts with game files, memory, or network traffic. This is the same as taking a screenshot of your game. SWLens is 100% ToS compliant and does not give any unfair advantage.
No, SWLens is NOT against the rules. Unlike hacks or cheats, it does not modify game files, read network traffic, inject code, or interact with game memory in any way. The overlay works entirely by taking screenshots and displaying information — exactly like any screen recording or streaming software. It provides no unfair advantage; it simply helps you make faster decisions using information already visible on your screen.
SWLens works in any modern browser on a PC, tablet or phone: every builder, Rune Lens, RTA Lens, the Bestiary and all calculators run right in your browser, with nothing to install (the live Rune Lens overlay needs Chrome or Edge on a computer). On Windows 10/11 there is also the SWLens Client, a free and optional desktop app you can get from the Download page. It embeds the Steam version of Summoners War and puts the overlay and your tools right in the game window. There is no Android or iOS app — on a phone, use SWLens in your browser.
Rune Lens uses OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to automatically read rune stats from your screen in real-time. When you open a rune in Summoners War, it instantly calculates efficiency, scores substats, and provides KEEP/SELL recommendations. You just need to set up the "Rune Box" region once.
After installing Rune Lens, click "Set Rune Box" and draw a rectangle around the rune info panel in your game. This tells Rune Lens where to look for rune data. You only need to set this once — it saves your selection.
Rune Lens uses a point-based scoring system where each substat earns points based on how high it rolled compared to the maximum possible roll. Critical stats (SPD, CR, CD, ATK%, HP%, DEF%) are weighted more heavily. A score of 230+ is generally considered a "keeper" for mid-game accounts.
Rune efficiency measures how well a rune rolled compared to a "perfect" rune. It considers all substats and their values relative to maximum possible rolls. 100% efficiency would be a rune with maximum rolls on all stats. Generally, 70%+ efficiency is good, 80%+ is excellent.
Re-App Targets are rune types you mark as valuable for reappraisal (usually Will, Swift, Violent). When Rune Lens detects a Legend grade rune with an innate stat of these types, it automatically recommends KEEP regardless of current substats, since these are ideal reappraisal candidates.
Yes! In Settings, you can adjust the RL Score threshold (default 230) and Efficiency threshold (default 75%) to match your account progression. Early game players might use lower thresholds, while end-game players might increase them. You can also import / export rule sets to sync between accounts or share with friends.
The RTA Builder Wizard is a data-driven team building tool that helps you create optimized RTA teams. Import your SWEX JSON file, and it will find the best rune assignments for your entire team with proper speed tuning and turn order optimization.
Full Automatic mode lets the system analyze your monster box and community meta data to automatically select the best monsters for your 10-man roster. It considers which meta teams you can build, monster win rates, and which monsters you can rune best from your inventory.
Semi-Automatic mode lets you manually select which monsters to build, then the system optimizes the rune assignments. You pick the team composition, and the wizard handles speed tuning and stat optimization across all monsters.
You need to export your account data using SWEX (Summoners War Exporter). This creates a JSON file containing your monsters, runes, and artifacts. Upload this file to any Builder Wizard and it will have access to your full inventory for optimization.
Speed tuning ensures your monsters move in the correct order during battle. The RTA Builder calculates actual speed (including tower bonuses and leader skills) and assigns runes to achieve your desired turn order.
Yes! After optimization, you can save your builds to the cloud. Saved builds sync across devices and are accessible from the web app dashboard. You can also lock builds to prevent the optimizer from re-using those runes in future optimizations.
The Siege Builder Wizard helps you create optimized teams for Guild Siege battles. It analyzes trending defense compositions and helps you build effective offense and defense teams using your available monsters and runes.
The Siege Builder offers multiple modes: view trending defense compositions used in top guilds, build optimized offense teams to counter specific defenses, and create your own siege defense teams with AI-optimized rune assignments.
The Equipped Units view shows all your monsters with their currently assigned runes and stats. You can filter by element, rune set, or stat thresholds to quickly find monsters suitable for specific siege roles.
The Arena Builder helps you create optimized arena offense and defense teams. It uses community data and data-driven optimization to suggest the best team compositions and rune assignments for climbing arena ranks.
The Arena Builder analyzes your monster box, considers popular arena compositions, and optimizes rune assignments to maximize your team's effectiveness. It handles speed tuning, stat priorities, and synergy between team members automatically.
Yes, the optimizer considers different strategies based on your target rank. Strategies differ between Fighter, Conqueror, and Guardian level arena, with different emphasis on speed vs. stats at each tier.
The WGB (World Guild Battle) Builder helps you create optimized teams for World Guild Battle content. It provides strategies for both offense and defense compositions tailored to the WGB format.
While similar to Siege, WGB has different rules and meta compositions. The WGB Builder accounts for these differences, including the separate WGB-only rune pool for defense.
The General Optimizer is a flexible manual team builder with 1 to 10 monster slots. You bring any team — siege, RTA, dungeon, or anything else — and the optimizer assigns the best runes for it. No meta constraints, no preset compositions; it works with whatever you build.
Use the General Optimizer for off-meta teams, custom compositions, niche dungeon comps, or any time you already know which monsters you want runed together. The dedicated builders (RTA / Siege / Arena / WGB) layer meta data and mode-specific tuning on top of optimization — General Optimizer is pure raw optimization.
Caiross Workshop is a PvE dungeon optimizer for Giants, Dragons, Necropolis, Punisher, and other Cairos content. It builds farming teams with proper turn order from your owned monsters, and surfaces fastest-team meta data for each dungeon.
Giants B12, Dragons B12, Necro B12, and Punisher Crypt are the primary supported dungeons. Each comes with established turn-order team templates and beginner-friendly starter teams.
The Monster Bestiary is a complete database of all Summoners War monsters with community-sourced build recommendations. It shows recommended rune sets, artifact recommendations, RTA / Arena / Siege / WGB win rates, ban rates, pick rates, and matchup data for every monster.
Build recommendations come from community data aggregated from high-level RTA matches and popular builds. This includes the most commonly used rune sets, slot 2/4/6 main stats, and artifact types for each monster — all weighted by win rate and pick rate.
Yes! You can filter monsters by element (Water, Fire, Wind, Light, Dark), search by name, browse by family, and filter by role, buffs, debuffs, and leader skills. The bestiary includes awakened and unawakened forms of all monsters.
Account Analytics provides deep analysis of your entire rune inventory and account progress. Import your SWEX JSON and get devilmon priority, dungeon farming guidance, rune-grade benchmarking against the population, content-gap analysis (who you're missing for each game mode), and per-set rune quality breakdowns.
Dungeon Score Cards rate your rune quality from each dungeon (Giants, Dragons, Necro) on a competitive scale from Challenger to Guardian. This helps you understand which dungeons to prioritize farming based on your current rune quality.
Farming priorities analyze your current rune inventory and recommend which dungeon to farm based on where your runes are weakest. For example, if your Swift runes are strong but Violent runes are lacking, it will recommend farming Dragons.
Analytics shows quality metrics for key rune sets including Swift, Violent, Despair, Will, Fight, and every other set. You can see average speed, efficiency, and RL Score for your top runes in each set, plus your best single runes per set.
Yes! Enable the "Dual Monitor" option in overlay settings if you play Summoners War on a secondary monitor. This ensures the overlay captures from the correct screen.
Make sure your Rune Box region covers the entire rune info panel. OCR works best with high contrast — ensure your game brightness is not too low. Also check that no other windows are overlapping the rune display area.
The overlay continuously captures and analyzes screen regions. You can reduce CPU usage by increasing the "Update Speed" value in settings — a higher value means less frequent captures. 300ms is a good balance between responsiveness and performance.
Cloud Sync keeps your SWLens data synchronized across devices. Your saved builds, SWEX JSON files, rule sets, and settings are stored securely in the cloud. Create an account to enable Cloud Sync and access your data from the web app on any device (phones included) or from the SWLens Client.
SWEX is a separate tool that exports your Summoners War account data to a JSON file. Search for "SWEX Summoners War" to find download links and setup guides. You need this JSON file for all Builder Wizards and Analytics features.
Free tier: SWLens Client, Rune Lens, Bestiary, RTA Lens, Account Analytics, all calculators, cloud sync, and 4 free optimization tokens. Basic plan: Everything in Free + Arena Builder + one builder of your choice (RTA / Siege / WGB). Premium plan: Full access to all 4 builders, Caiross Workshop, the General Optimizer, unlimited optimizations, and early access to new features.
Tokens are one-time credits that unlock a specific builder for a session. Every free account gets 4 tokens on signup, and you can buy more via the Token Pack. Tokens never expire and can be mixed across the four token-eligible builders (RTA Wizard, Siege, Arena, WGB) — Caiross Workshop and the General Optimizer are Premium-only and cannot be unlocked with tokens. Premium and Basic subscribers do not need tokens for their included builders.
Yes! You can change your plan at any time from the Profile page. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period so you keep premium access until your renewal date.
Your saved builds and cloud data are preserved. You lose access to premium builders but can still use the Bestiary, RTA Lens, Rune Lens, all calculators, and any features available on the free tier. You can re-subscribe at any time to regain access.
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) through Stripe. Payments are processed securely and we never store your card details.
Each builder has its own equipment pool to prevent conflicts. RTA Builder uses runes not locked by other builders. Siege Builder has a separate pool for defense teams. Arena and WGB Attack share the same attack rune pool. When you lock a build in one builder, those runes become unavailable in other builders.
Yes. Locked runes are reserved for that specific build and will not be assigned to other monsters in any builder. This prevents the optimizer from double-booking your best runes. You can unlock builds at any time to free up those runes.
Arena and WGB Attack share the same rune pool (your "attack" runes). This means runes locked in Arena builds are also unavailable for WGB Attack optimization, and vice versa. WGB Defense has its own separate pool.
Build Failed means the optimizer could not find a rune combination that meets all your requirements (speed target, stat minimums, etc.). Try lowering your stat requirements, removing strict mode, or ensuring you have enough runes available (not locked in other builds).
This means the optimizer did not send progress updates within the timeout window. It usually happens when optimizing with a very large rune pool (3000+ runes) which takes longer to process. Try again — if it persists, try reducing the number of monsters or lowering speed requirements.
Optimization time scales with your rune pool size. Accounts with 3000+ runes take significantly longer because the optimizer evaluates many more combinations. Tips: lock builds you are happy with (removes those runes from future optimizations), remove low-quality runes from your inventory, or reduce search depth.
Ensure the file is a valid SWEX JSON export (not a screenshot or text file). The file should end in .json and be under 50MB. If SWEX crashed during export, the file may be corrupted — try exporting again. Also check that you are using the latest version of SWEX.
This is usually caused by browser extensions (especially auto-translate) interfering with the app. Try disabling browser translation, clearing your cache, or using an incognito/private window. If the issue persists, submit a bug report — error details are automatically captured and sent to us.

Cloud Sync stores your SWEX JSON file (monsters, runes, artifacts), saved builds for all builders, locked equipment assignments, Rune Lens rule sets, and app settings. This allows you to access your data from any device with the same account.
Cloud sync happens automatically when you import a new JSON file, save or lock a build, or change settings. You can also manually trigger a sync from the Cloud page. Data is synced in real-time when you have an internet connection.
Yes! Sign in with the same account on the web app, the SWLens desktop client, or any mobile browser, and your data will be available everywhere. Everything syncs across surfaces — builds, rules, JSON, settings.
Yes, Cloud Sync can be disabled from the Profile settings page. However, disabling it means your saved builds, locked equipment, and JSON data will not be stored or accessible across devices. You will lose the ability to save builds, and any previously saved data will not be available until you re-enable Cloud Sync.
Re-import whenever you make significant changes to your runes — after a rune removal event, major powering up session, or new rune acquisitions. The optimizer works with whatever data you last imported, so keeping it up to date gives better results.
Wizard slots let you link multiple Summoners War accounts to one SWLens account. Each slot stores a separate SWEX JSON file, saved builds, and equipment locks. You can switch between wizards without re-importing.
Free and Basic plans include 1 wizard slot. Premium plan includes 2 wizard slots, allowing you to manage two Summoners War accounts from one SWLens account. Additional slots beyond 2 are not available.
Yes! Premium users with two linked wizards can switch between them from the Profile page. Each wizard has its own independent rune pool, saved builds, and optimization history.
Yes, but the change will only take effect from your next billing cycle. You cannot swap wizard slots mid-billing cycle to prevent abuse. Once your next billing period starts, the old wizard will be unlinked and you can link a new one.
We store your email address, SWEX JSON data (monsters, runes, artifacts), saved builds, and basic usage analytics. We do not collect your Summoners War login credentials, hive account details, or any data beyond what is in the SWEX export file.
Yes. Your data is stored in encrypted databases hosted on Supabase (backed by AWS). Access is restricted by row-level security policies — only you can access your data. We never share individual user data with third parties.
No. We never sell, share, or use your data for any purpose other than providing the Cloud Sync functionality. Your data is only stored so you can access it across devices. It is not used for analytics, recommendations, or any other purpose.
